    California Art Club to Present a Winter Art Symposium in San Francisco to Address How Artists Can Enhance Both their Paintings and the Market for their Work

    The event, to be held at Fort Mason Center on January 21 and 22, 2012, will feature lectures, critiques and demonstrations of landscape and figurative painting from nationally renowned arrtists, including Joseph Paquet. Another highlight will be the lecture by art magazine publisher Eric Rhoads on “How to Transform Your Career in One Year or Less.”

    The California Art Club will present a Winter Art Symposium for traditional fine artists, which will feature lectures, critiques and demonstrations by nationally acclaimed landscape and figurative painters, at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco, January 21 and 22, 2012.

    The event, which is being coordinated by the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the 100-year-old fine arts organization, aims to promote traditional fine arts by providing artists with an intensive educational opportunity that addresses not only techniques for improving their artwork, but also information on how to expand the market for their art.

    “With the Winter Art Symposium, we want to introduce Bay Area artists to the high caliber of educational programming and access to today’s premier talent in the art world, for which the California Art Club has a long and esteemed tradition in Southern California,” said Novato-based artist Richard Lindenberg, one of the event’s organizers.

    One of the most anticipated aspects of the Winter Art Symposium is the participation of noted landscape painter Joseph Paquet. Paquet will present the lecture “Creativity and Authenticity: The Journey of Self-Expression,” in addition to a painting demonstration on creating landscapes en plein air (“in the open air”).

    Additional demonstrations to be conducted during the symposium will feature three prominent Bay Area representational artists: Kim Fancher Lordier on California landscapes in pastel, Nancy Seamons Crookston on oil portrait painting and Craig Nelson on quick oil studies.

    The symposium will also feature a panel discussion on “Creating the Future – The Next Step in the Art World” with American artist Peter Adams, who has served as the Club’s president since 1993; CAC Executive Director Elaine Adams; and magazine publisher Eric Rhoads, whose magazines include Fine Art Connoisseur and Plein Air. Rhoads will also present the lecture “How to Transform Your Career in One Year or Less.”

    The fee for the two-day symposium is $150 for Club members and $175 for non-members. Early registration is recommended, as participation will be limited to 250 attendees.
