Award Winners to Receive Grants of $5000 to Support Their Humanitarian Work

BOSTON, Feb. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being released by The Jenzabar Foundation:

What: The Jenzabar Foundation today announced that it has opened the nomination process for its fifth annual Student Leadership Awards. The Student Leadership Awards will recognize student groups who have made a difference in the world through service and philanthropic activities, including local, national, or international activities. The Jenzabar Foundation is accepting submissions from institutions of higher education, non-profit organizations, religious organizations and self-nominations from students for their community service or humanitarian efforts during the 2011-2012 or 2012-2013 academic years.

Who: The awards will honor ten student-led campus groups or activities that have made a significant impact beyond their own higher education institutions. Nominations are open for students enrolled in any accredited institution of higher education and can be submitted by individuals, educational institutions, or non-profit organizations. Evaluation of nominees will be based on the content of submissions spotlighting the positive impact and value the group or project has brought to its campus and the beneficiaries of its service.

Why: The Jenzabar Foundation seeks to foster a culture of service and to educate and inspire future generations to create a better world. The Foundation has provided funding to more than 500 colleges, universities and student-led campus groups through its annual student leadership awards and other grant programs. A $5,000 grant is included with the Student Leadership Award recognition to support the student or group's future humanitarian endeavors.

When: Nominations are being accepted now through April 8, 2013.

Where: Additional criteria and nomination process information may be found via the Jenzabar Foundation Web site at www.thejenzabarfoundation.org. Submissions will be accepted online only. The first step in the submission process is joining The Jenzabar Foundation Community Network and using the referral code: SLA2013. Once registered, applicants will be advised of the submission procedure.

"The annual Jenzabar Foundation Student Leadership Awards recognize students or groups with an outstanding level of devotion to social responsibility," said Bob Maginn, Chairman of the Jenzabar Foundation. "Honoring those who promote humanitarian needs and act as inspirational role models are the ideal candidates for these awards.
