Cameroon's record striker Samuel Eto'o calls time on international caree

London, Aug 28 (ANI): Samuel Eto'o, Cameroon's 56-goal all-time leading scorer, has announced his retirement from international football. The new Everton signing will not be going to the Africa Cup of Nations in January and will be available for the rest of the Premier League season. Eto'o, the former Chelsea striker, joined Everton on a free transfer on Tuesday. Eto'o said on his Instagram page that he wishes to inform his fans that he has hereby put a definitive end to his international career, The BBC reported. The striker also said that on this occasion, he wishes to thank all Africans in particular and all his fans around the world for their love and unconditional support. The former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid player made his international debut in 1997 during a 5-0 defeat to Costa Rica. Eto'o made his final appearance for Cameroon against Mexico during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the report added. (ANI)
