Canadian Press NewsAlert: Senators vote to suspend colleague Pamela Wallin

OTTAWA - Senators have voted to suspend colleague Pamela Wallin, a former member of the Conservative caucus, for allegedly claiming improper expenses.

The suspension, which permits Wallin to retain health, dental and life insurance benefits, is to last for the duration of the parliamentary session, which could continue for the next two years.

The motion for Wallin passed by a vote of 52-27, with 12 abstentions, and was the third in a series of votes that also suspended Patrick Brazeau and Mike Duffy.
