Capital One names Stephen Crawford as its next CFO, current CFO to retire in May

McLEAN, Va. (AP) -- Capital One Financial Corp. on Friday named Stephen Crawford as its next chief financial officer.

Crawford will join the McLean, Va.-based bank on Feb. 4 and become a member of its executive committee. On May 24, he will transition to the role of CFO and succeed Gary Perlin, the company's current finance chief, who will retire.

Perlin will continue to work with Capital One as a senior advisor to the CEO through Feb. 1, 2014.

Crawford is a partner and co-founder of the advisory firm Centerview Partners and has served as an advisor to Capital One on a wide range of strategic and financial matters.

Before launching Centerview, Crawford spent nearly 20 years at Morgan Stanley, serving in a variety of positions including CFO, chief administrative officer and chief strategic officer.

Capital One shares rose 35 cents to $56.67 in morning trading.
