Capture One Pro for Mac is a professional photo editing suite that places a high value on functionality for the real-world photographer in the field.
Pros
High speed: On consumer-level computers, high-end photo editing software can be very resource intensive. Operations sometimes take a great deal of time, and the rest of the computer can slow down noticeably. Capture One Pro seemed to be snappy and responsive, without draining resources excessively at all.
Good camera support: Capture One Pro is designed to function out of the box with a wide range of professional-level cameras. The software supports more than 300 models by Sony, Canon, Nikon, Leica, Panasonic, and more.
Asset management: The program allows you to manage your files as well as edit them. The ability to organize, sort, and compare your various files makes this a very powerful tool for a professional photographer dealing with large numbers of files.
Image quality: This app imports in RAW format. The image quality seems to be exceptionally high, with excellent color and texture present in all the photos that we imported.
Cons
Lack of social features: The reality of the digital photo industry now is that a huge majority of photos end up online. So the lack of easy exporting features to online photo sites is a missed opportunity.
Bottom Line
Capture One Pro is a very professional, powerful photo editing application. It seems to be designed as a complete solution for a digital photographer and works exceptionally well.
