Car catches fire in Highland Heights

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A car caught on fire in Highland Heights early Monday morning.

Memphis Police say the incident happened just before 4 a.m. on Pope Street and Powell Avenue. A single-car crash caused one person to be ejected.

They were taken to Regional One Trauma in critical condition.

WREG is working to learn if the driver was injured and how this fire started. What we do know is the entire inside of the car was severely damaged– so much so that the entire driving column looks to be melted and charred.

We will provide more details as they become available.
