Car Fire Creates Smoky Conditions Outside Baptist Hospital

MIAMI, FL — While medical professionals were battling the coronavirus inside Baptist Hospital Wednesday night, first responders were outside battling a car fire in the parking garage.

A spokesperson for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said the fire started around 6:30 p.m. in the northeast parking garage of Baptist Hospital at 8900 N Kendall Dr.

"When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the third level of the garage," the spokesperson said. "The firefighters made their way to the floor where the fire started and advanced their hose lines extinguishing the fire rapidly."

The spokesperson said the fire spread to nearby vehicles before firefighters arrived.

"The cause is under investigation and no one was injured in the fire," the spokesperson added.
