Cara Delevingne Opens Up About ‘Sad’ Childhood And Mother’s Heroin Addiction

Cara Delevingne always seems like the kind of person who simply has it all.

We mean, she’s gorgeous, hilarious, super talented on the runway, on the big screen, and in the recording studio, and has more celeb friends than you can shake a stick at.

INCLUDING Harry Styles.

However, the 23-year-old beauty has opened up in a brand new interview and revealed that, actually, things aren’t really as they seem, with the starlet battling through a difficult childhood to get to where she is today.

Speaking to OK! magazine, Cara explained: “As a child I was never happy being myself and I always wanted to put myself in someone else’s shoes.

“My childhood was pretty sad, my mother battled heroin addiction for years and is now writing her memoir.

“As a child I suffered a lot because I wasn’t able to spend very much time with her, and then at fifteen this terrible wave of depression hit me.

“School was a nightmare for me and life felt awful, that’s when I discovered that acting was my only way to feel alive.”

Awww, babes, come over here and give us a cuddle before we burst into tears.

The super famous supermodel also admitted that she only ever started modeling because her older sister, Poppy, was doing it and she wanted to prove that she could be good at it, which we think might just be the understatement of the century.

Cara shared: “The father of a friend of mine who owns an agency arranged a casting. My sister Poppy had already been working as a model, even though I hated the idea of copying anything she would do.

“I kept on modelling because it had become a career and I wanted to show that I could be good at it. The fame and everything that came with it was something I never expected and it felt so strange to be so recognised for something that was never really my goal.”

Well, it’s pretty safe to say that following appearances in Paper Towns, Pan, and Suicide Squad, Cara is certainly on the right track to being recognised for her acting credentials.

And we’re just glad that she is now in such a happy place.
