Carbon Dioxide Levels Are Crazy High
The amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has increased dramatically: 142 percent since the pre-industrial era. Despite numerous awareness efforts, C02 levels rose at their fastest rate in 2013.
An annual report released by the United Nation's World Meteorological Organization on Tuesday also notes the grave environmental threat posed by "ocean acidificaton," whereby roughly a quarter of all C02 emissions are absorbed by the earth's oceans.
W.M.O. Secretary-General Michel Jarraud stressed the need for immediate action.

Just this week, the prominent conservative websites Breitbart and The Daily Caller celebrated a theory promoted by a right wing British political activist that denies the existence of climate change based on the slow rate of global warming.
Republican Presidential candidate Kentucky Senator Rand Paul mocked former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in an interview with Fox News on Friday for her assertion that climate change was the most sweeping challenge the country faces. And last spring, Senator Marco Rubio, another Republican Presidential hopeful said he "[did] not believe that human activity is causing these dramatic changes to our climate the way these scientists are portraying it." in an interview with ABC News.
