    Carl Edwards' Next Left Turn

    Just hours before Nascar's Sprint Cup race at Infineon Raceway, I was interviewing the engineering team of the number one driver in points, when he walked into his #99 hauler and said, "Kym, do you want to come with me to the driver's meeting?" Of course, I jumped at the opportunity to follow Carl Edwards and his manager, Randolph Fuller to a gathering of all the drivers, team owners, and Nascar officials, to go over the rules. He didn't realize when he'd asked, that the room would be full. The guard at the door told him no one else but the drivers were permitted anymore. To which he responded, "She's coming in with me," and pulled me right through. He really wanted me to get the full experience of what the drivers have to go through the morning of a race. It just goes to show what type of a person he is: He hasn't let fame and fortune go to his head. He's as down-to-earth as they come.  Nascar drivers are known for being fan-friendly. But in the ten years that I've covered the Sprint Cup Series, not once has a driver gone out of his way, as Edwards did, and include me in his pre-race routine. That's typically off-limits as drivers need to get focused.  He even took time out to tell me about how he's investing his time and money off-the-track. Take a look:

      Very rare, Carl does have a very down to earth side this story makes me want him to win the cup.

      Carl Edwards is first in points?? How did this happen? Oh yea nascar is all screwed up these days.
      How does a guy whos won less races than other drivers get first in points?????

      They had a meeting to tell them to:
      1) No left turns
      2) Wreck a little. The fans love that.
      3) Someone fight afterwards. The fans love that also.
      I bet it was a short meeting for the fake sport.
