Jepsen's performance featured video montages of the countless "Call Me Maybe" covers, and at one point, she went into the crowd and let fellow viral sensation Sophia Grace Brownlee belt a lyric (see 2:33 in the video).
For the Breakout Artist award, Jepsen secured enough fan votes to trump "Somebody That I Used to Know" duo Gotye and Kimbra, American Idol winner Phillip Phillips and British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding.

In the Choice Summer Song category, "Call Me Maybe" beat out Justin Bieber's "All Around the World," Demi Lovato's "Give Your Heart a Break," The Wanted's "Glad You Came" and Usher's "Scream."
"Call Me Maybe" hit number one on the iTunes singles chart and Billboard's Hot 100 chart in June and remains on top this week. It has been covered, parodied, lip-dubbed and danced to by celebrities, Sesame Street's Cookie Monster, college athletes (see gallery below), half-naked models, musicians, digital versions of Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, a public relations agency and more people on YouTube.
The song's original video has racked up 166 million views while Jepsen's second video (featuring cameos from Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale) has 45.9 million.
