Cary Lee Peterson: 'I love the media exposure on Ready for Bernie Sanders 2016 but never misquote me'

WASHINGTON, D.C.--(Marketwired - May 2, 2015) - Ready for Bernie Sanders 2016 chief director Cary Lee Peterson responds to recent news article 'Can Bernie Sanders Duck Super-PACs?' published yesterday, saying "I appreciate the media exposure for our committee but never take my comments and twist the intention or meaning."

Peterson, a Senate lobbyist who founded Ready for Bernie Sanders 2016 and Bet on Bernie website in February has been in communication with political news reporters regarding the PAC's support for Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who announced his 2016 presidential bid this Thursday.

"I told press $58 million is needed for a healthy awareness campaign to the Primary Election (in general). The quote used in their article was exaggerated and not words from me. I am optimistic and we do have several contribution pledges at the present time. However, I was very clear that we were just getting started (since the reporters and I first spoke in March) forming our executive management staff, hiring professional campaign consultants, establishing our volunteer committee, and launching campaigns with marketing partners. I'm a person of core principles and there's no way I'd take a dollar from a donor prior to know Sen. Sanders was a bonafied candidate. Let's make that clear. He's now made an official announcement and I'm comfortable allowing cash contributions to the PAC as of this week."

The 'hybird' PAC (not super-PAC) is currently compliant with FEC standards and anticipates its first filing deadline for financial activity on June 30 of this year.

Peterson further comments, "Keep it clean. I love that Sen. Sanders is now gaining more exposure from the media and that's why I participated. But if you lie on me I will definitely confront you."

The committee is currently developing a street team to enable publicity on the ground level, and will continue the digital billboard exposure in New York, Time Square to boost Sanders' name is his hometown, in addition the event planning for voter and veteran rights awareness functions throughout the country over the upcoming months.
