The Third International Conference on Small Island Development States in Samoa is less than four months away and many of the major groups and stakeholders are voicing their comments and suggestions on viable propositions for delegates and Member States of SIDS, as Dr. Cary Lee Peterson, Chair-Executive General of ECCO2-GP (IGO) and Main Representative to the United Nations Office of Vienna for Concile Mondial de Congres Diplomatiques des Aumoniers pour la Paix Universelle des Droits Humains et Juridiques had recently presented as an intervention statement for SIDS Intersessional Meeting on April 24, 2014.

Peterson's statement advised that implementation is pertinent and to treat stages of development like a homebuilder 'laying brick by brick'. The comments and intervention focal points included (1) an energy efficiency solution for fossil fuels currently in used in research and development projects in Jamaica and Southeastern U.S., (2) a multilateral partnership between China, United States, and SIDS for cost effective manufacturing of community goods from imported raw materials or parts, recycled rubber and plastic, and barter-trading of commodities.

Furthering awareness and aid for sustainable tourism, water sanitation, and economic development remain a top priority and thematic point of discussions in Small Island Developing States delegations. Meanwhile, other stakeholders and major groups made interventions on climate change, which focus on environmental issues as natural disaster risk management, food security, and biodiversity.

Ambassador Peterson, who was recently awarded an honorary doctorate degree for intergovernmental affairs and international diplomacy, says that new development of import-export strategies and expansion of international and local supply chains are in the works between affiliate partners at the present time. He anticipates seeing more program participation in the near future from stakeholders like AHDSEE, EZYBI, Ninocell, Greenjobforveterans.com, and Fuel Emulsions International, who currently are interactive contributors of new innovations and affective solutions for voluntary partnerships in Small Island Developing States.
