KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) — A day after a rare defeat for sprinter Usain Bolt, his father suffered another kind of loss back home in Jamaica.

Thieves broke into the pickup truck of 57-year-old Wellesley Bolt and stole more than $4,000 in cash. The elder Bolt says the theft occurred while he was shopping in Falmouth on Jamaica's north coast. He said in a brief interview Friday that the thieves also made off with bank records and other documents he had stashed under the driver's seat.

Police confirmed the theft report but said there have been no arrests.

Six-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt is in Rome for the Golden Gala meet. Bolt lost by one-hundredth of a second Thursday in the 100 meters to American sprinter Justin Gatlin.
