    Cause-Shopping Engine nonprofitshoppingmall.com Releases 4th Quarter Analytics And Celebrates $50,000 Milestone

    NPSM announces healthy growth figures for online sales during the 2011 holiday shopping season. While overall online sales grew 15% (source: comScore), NPSM has seen an increase of up to over 50% in usage of its proprietary online cause shopping tools, resulting in healthy revenue increases for the participating non-profit organizations.

    Corine Couwenberg: “We are very happy with the results of our holiday shopping season analysis. We just finished accounting for the last quarter, ending with December 26th. Some of our non-profit partners have really succeeded in motivating their supporters to engage in ShopAnthropy. Email blasts and Facebook campaigns have proven themselves to be effective. We are thrilled that the Season of Giving created additional revenue for them.”

    Furthermore, NPSM noted changes in shopping behavior.


    We saw strong sales from Ebay, QVC, Target, Groupon, Overstock, Sephora and Swell. The latter are probably due to the faithful supporters of Surfrider Foundation. Kohls and Nordstrom performed best among department stores; as did Gap/Old Navy. They all offered free shipping. Macys performed best in Great Britain.

    Barnes and Noble saw healthy increases, possibly due to great special offers and discounts during the holiday season as well as their upgraded and expanded product offerings, branching out into toys, home décor, kitchen ware, electronics and even arts and crafts.


    ProFlowers remains the top floral vendor. Red Envelope continues to top the gift vendors and Shari’s Berries is still the favorite edible gift seller.

    Travel sales saw increases, with Expedia topping the vendor list, Hotels.com in second place thanks to many special getaway offers and Travelocity in third.


    Another notable change is the increase in sales of lifestyle products. The trend helped Chefs Catalog jump into the top sellers. All vendors increased sales of home decor, home entertaining and cooking utensil items.

    Corine Couwenberg: “We are celebrating a milestone of our own. We are happy to announce that we have reached the $50,000.00 mark in royalties we've paid to our partners since our launch. While we conceived the idea of our online cause shopping tools a few years ago, NPSM was activated just as the economy went into a tailspin. Last year we were dealt an enormous economic blow due to California's Nexus Tax Law, signed into law on June 29, and which was rescinded on September 1, just as we entered into Q4. However, we continue to grow and we are now seeing very encouraging numbers. We have also learned that ShopAnthropy works best for non-profits that communicate the possibility of turning shopping into giving to their followers. We wish our Non-Profit partners a Happy 2012!”
