The Brooklyn Community Board 6 (CB6) approved the Department of Transportation's proposal to improve the controversial Prospect Park West bike lane.
Some of the improvements that the CB6 approved were to change the loading zones on 9th Street, add raised pedestrian islands and add bike rumble strips near crosswalks. More information on the DOT's proposed modifications for the bike lane can be found on Streetsblog here.
The DOT will also conduct a three year survey of injuries and accidents along the street. The full board will vote on proposals to ask the DOT to implement at the next CB6 general meeting onApril 13, 2011.
