Channing Tatum, Mila Kunis’ ‘Jupiter Ascending’ to Premiere at Secret Sundance Screening
Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski‘s sci-fi space epic “Jupiter Ascending” will debut Tuesday at Sundance Film Festival as this year’s “secret screening,” an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.
Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis star in the intergalactic odyssey, which was originally scheduled for a July, 2014 release. But Warner Bros. pushed the opening back by almost a year to Feb. 6, 2015.

The delay was said to be the result of the film’s complicated visual effects, which couldn’t be completed by the original summer rollout date.
As TheWrap previously reported, “Jupiter Ascending” has been plagued by bad buzz since its initial trailer and many industry insiders predicted it would struggle at the summer box office, given its hefty price tag, which is believed to be north of $150 million.
The Wachowskis, who famously directed the “Matrix” trilogy, are coming off of two other big-budget films which underperformed at the box office, “Speed Racer” with Emile Hirsch and “Cloud Atlas” with Tom Hanks.

Last year’s secret Sundance film was Lars von Trier’s “Nymphomaniac: Vol. I.” which starred Shia LaBeouf, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Stellan Skarsgard.
