FX is pleased with the performance of Charlie Sheen's "Anger Management" so far, and network President John Landgraf said on Saturday it was likely the comedy would get the pickup for the back 90 episodes.

Reacting to the FX boss' comments at the Television Critics Association summer tour in Beverly Hills, Charlie said the potential to move forward with the full "Anger Management" deal was a thrill.

"It's exciting as hell," the actor told reporters. "Look who I get to work with. This is a really amazing group... I don't think 90 [is] going to be enough... I feel with how we've started that we just scratched the surface -- barely."

FX revealed on Saturday that they will wait to see viewer numbers for the first season run before making a final determination, but if the show gets the green light for the full 90 episodes, Martin Sheen will become a full-time cast member.

Speaking after the panel about working with his dad so far, Charlie said Martin brings a lot to the "Anger Management" set.

"He's comes to set prepared, he likes to rehearse, he's old school and he's a bit of a perfectionist like I am," Charlie told reporters. "He doesn't want to leave a take or a scene [unless he] absolutely killed. But he's very trusting... He's like, 'Are you sure about that?' I'm like, 'Yeah, we got it, we got it twice.' He's very supportive on the set. He's kind of a living legend. When the crew sees him... it's kind of like, 'Attention on Deck.'"

Beyond "Anger Management," Charlie has been in the news lately after "American Idol" producer Nigel Lythgoe suggested he'd make a good judge on the singing reality show.

After the panel, Charlie told reporters he was "deeply flattered" by the suggestion, but he hasn't heard anything new about the potential seat on the "Idol' panel.

He did, however, again express his interest.

"Why not? For me it's not always about the work, it's about the experience and when I was watching the episode [of 'Anger Management] with Denise [Richards, my ex-wife], I didn't really think about her and I doing the scenes, I thought about us spending time with our kids, between the scenes," Charlie said.

"So that's all it's really about, it's the stories I can tell in 20 years, sometimes in 20 minutes," he continued, turning the attention to his current FX show. "I'm thrilled to be here [on 'Anger Management']. I think it's really a cool opportunity to come back with and sort of slam that Warner Bros. door finally, move on [from] that."
