Check out these 5 gorgeous Moto 360 concepts from Motorola’s design competition
With Android Wear, the future of the smartwatch is finally looking bright. Many vendors have already announced their intent to implement the software within their unreleased products, but we haven’t had a great look at exactly what Android Wear is capable of quite yet. In order to create some buzz for the Moto 360, and give the community a chance to decide what their version of Android Wear could look like, Motorola has put together a face design contest for the upcoming smartwatch.
Contestants have been given a few template PSDs to work with, and some of the entries are genuinely impressive. There are dozens to see, but Droid Life highlighted a few their favorites, so we’ve decided to do the same. Check out the contest page on Google+ for yourself and see if you can pick out a favorite.
The first concept that caught our eye is a bit overwhelming, but it’s the perfect demonstration for what can be done with a smartwatch. If you don’t mind a busy watch face, this one is worth a look. [+Tyler Allicock]
A much quieter design with both analog and digital time as well as a counter for notifications, a weather indicator and the option to swipe up on a small, unobtrusive arrow to access your notifications. [+Luigi Elisino]
I really like the idea of three separate screens for different tasks. Rather than loading the home screen with apps and notifications, just spread everything out between multiple screens, each of which are one swipe away. [+Kristoffer Sundmyhr]
Apps on a smartwatch are typically either too complicated for the tiny, round screen or far too pared down to be useful. It’s not so much a design for the face of the Moto 360, but this Facebook concept shows how a complex app could work on a smartwatch. [+Michał Galubiński]
