Check Out Europe’s Most Expensive Classic Car Ever Sold at Auction

This classic 1957 Ferrari is a pretty sweet ride, if you have $36 million to spare.

The red 335 Sport Scaglietti, which was put on auction Friday afternoon at the Retromobile auction in Paris, set an all-time record for most expensive car ever sold at auction in Europe, according to Artcurial, the French auction house that conducted the sale.

The car successfully competed in races from 1957-1960, winning the Cuba Grand Prix with drivers Masten Gregory and Stirling Moss at the wheel. In 1970, the car was sold to famed collector Pierre Bardinon, whom Artcurial calls an “astute collector who over the years assembled some fifty factory Ferrari comprising the most successful and iconic models in the history of the marque.”

The sale falls just short of the world record for most expensive car sold at auction, the title of which goes to a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO Berlinetta, which sold in Carmel, California in 2014 for $38,115,000.
