Chelsea Clinton can’t understand why Americans find Hillary dishonest: ‘My mom is my hero’

Chelsea Clinton is surprised to see her mother struggling in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination “because my mom is my hero.”

In an interview with NBCs “Today” show Tuesday, the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton was asked how she felt about recent polls that show a majority of Americans don’t find her mother honest and trustworthy.

“I’m not a pundit. Im a daughter,” Chelsea Clinton said. “And I love and admire my mom. I know that she’s talking about issues that are important to families across our country.”

She said she’s confident that such issues “are starting to resonate” with voters and that the Democrats will once again be “ready for Hillary.”

“I believe as more and more Americans hear from her, they’ll come to know why Im so proud to be my mothers daughter, Chelsea said. I just continue to believe as more people see more of her, [they] will come to know why I believe so strongly that she would make a great president, and they will reach the same conclusions.

Chelsea said her 11-month-old daughter, Charlotte, is inspiring her mothers campaign to shape the future of the country for her.

Charlotte is really her North Star in this race, Chelsea said.

The 35-year-old former first daughter, who hit the campaign trail in support of her mothers 2008 presidential bid, has, for the most part, yet to do so this cycle.

Her appearance on the Today show was to promote a new book — Its Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired and Get Going! — aimed at explaining complex global issues like climate change and poverty to young people.

When I talk to kids today, theyre curious about the world around us, Chelsea said. I think theyre more engaged than adults often think they are.
