Cheney Recovering From Heart Transplant

Former Vice President Dick Cheney is recovering from a heart transplant, according to media reports, citing a statement from his office.

The 71-year-old was on a waiting list for more than 20 months, the Associated Press reported, citing a statement from his office. Cheney does not know who the donor was, but he and his family "will be forever grateful for this lifesaving gift," the statement read. He is recovering in the Intensive Care Unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital, in Falls Church, Va.

Cheney has a history of heart trouble. He suffered his fifth heart attack in 2010 and received a partial artificial heart that year, according to The New York Times.
