Chesterfield: Fire that killed mum and son started accidentally
A house fire that killed a woman and her son was accidental, an investigation has found.
Emergency services were called to reports of a blaze at a three-storey terraced house in Staunton Close, Chesterfield, at 02:44 BST on 7 April.
Sarita Garcia-Perez, 65, and Sancho Garcia-Bolsover, 31, both died, while a second woman managed to escape.
An investigation found the most likely cause of the fire was a naked flame igniting combustible materials.
Numerous crews were called to the the scene with some firefighters deployed to find people inside the house, the fire service previously said.
Neighbouring properties were also evacuated as a precaution.
Nathan Stevens, group manager of the fire service, has passed on his condolences to the family and friends affected by the deaths.
The fire service has issued safety advice following the incident, including having smoke alarms fitted throughout the home and having a pre-planned and practiced escape route.
