Chevy Chase Is Returning to Community, According to Chevy Chase

Chevy Chase will return to Community next year. Or at least that's what Chevy Chase says.

During a Reddit AMA held Monday night, the actor revealed, "I will be in a small cameo at the beginning of Community and if they ask me to come back and do one or two appearances, it's a possibility."

However, a spokesperson for Sony, which produces the show, says that "At this time, Chevy is not confirmed to appear in Season 6."

Chase's working relationship with Community creator Dan Harmon is notoriously contentious. In 2012, Harmon played angry voicemails from the actor in public, and Chase later said that doing the comedy was a "big mistake." Not long afterward, production on Community was temporarily shut down after he used the N-word on set.

As fans of the show know all too well, Harmon was fired from the series at the end of Season 3, and Chase eventually left, during the filming of Season 4. However, Chase did make a brief cameo in Season 5, appearing as a hologram after his character Pierce Hawthorne had been killed off-screen (and after Harmon had been rehired).

Community's 13-episode sixth season will premiere on Yahoo! next year, without Yvette Nicole Brown but with new cast members Keith David and Paget Brewster.
