Chris Brown Isn't Dead, But His Twitter Handle Almost Is

chris-brown-courtDespite the fact that #RIPChrisBrown has become a Twitter trending topic, the hip-hop artist is alive and well Wednesday. His Twitter account seems to be wasting away, however, with all but four tweets deleted.

Brown caused controversy on Twitter since his performance at the Grammys. Although Brown was one of the most talked-about celebrities that evening, trending topics such as #wifebeater suggested the reasons were mostly negative.

[More from Mashable: Does Your Branded Franchise Need Its Own Social Media Strategy?]

Other celebrities, such as Miranda Lambert, Michelle Branch and Will Wheaton also raised their eyebrows at the Grammys' choice of performer.

Brown responded to the hate with a strongly worded tweet.

[More from Mashable: Chris Brown Curses Out Twitter Critics Then Tries to Delete the Evidence]

Just minutes later, Brown attempted to delete all evidence of his tantrum on Twitter. We captured the offending tweet, however, while eagle-eyed reader Andy Smigelski captured the entire stream of tweets from Tuesday night, all of which have since been deleted. Check them out below.

Twitter users responded to Brown's behavior by making "#RIPChrisBrown" a trending topic. Earlier this morning, the account retweeted talk show host Wendy Williams, who asked if this sort of behavior warranted a Grammy. The response to Williams' question has been mixed, from "give it a rest already" to "based on talent YES."

Brown has since taken back his retweet of Williams, and there are now only four visible tweets attached to his account, including a link to his new music video.

This is not the first tantrum we've seen from the artist, who deleted his account in 2009 after accusing retailers of blackballing him and not giving his album proper space.

Brown's newest tweet to his followers expresses a different tune: "Be Happy."

If you were Chris Brown's publicist, how would you handle this situation? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Twitter is just a tool that allows idiots and fools to prove it.

Well said, my friend....well said. It is amazing to me how quickly and willingly people air all of their personal laundry for so many other people who are equally as willing to actually care about reading it.

Sadly society as a whole rewards bad behavior....ask Chris Brown, many criminals in the NFL including my all time favorite creep Michael Vick.
      • Brandon 3 mths ago
But Vick served time in prison; it wasn't like he was caught running the dog fighting thing and just got community service for it. Also, it is not like the industry they are in will run background checks that would deny them to perform, especially the music industry
      • Kimberly 3 mths ago
Just had to bring that up didnt you? Theres many creeps in show biz just like Charlie Sheen but if their white society frogets much quicker than if they were black! Would ppl be so upset if M Vick ran a chicken fighting business? Nope!
      • Lee AnnR 3 mths ago
@Kimberly you had to bring race in it. Oh my gosh, people make mistake black or white. so back off about race and shut up because there are many WHITE criminals that people remember. ignorance is not cute.

It is a deplorable symptom of the moral sickness in our country that a woman beater is given any positive attention. Adolph Hitler was very talented. How very stupid it would be to give him awards for it and ignore his behavior. Ignorant! brown is more angry now than ever. the most suitable place for him at the moment would be on $omney's campaign team...lots of hate there too - good fit
      • C 3 mths ago
Wait!?!?!?! You just said they gave him awards for being a woman beater...when did they do that?
      • Oy Vey! 3 mths ago
Hitler recieved nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize. I think he might have even been awarded. There are plenty of sick people whom have been idolized in history. The question is, when will people set a standard of morality and humanity. Why are the values of humans so weak that we will compromise them for superficial gains. And what truly angers me, is that this blowhole thinks he has talent.... like singing through ones nose and making sounds similiar to that of a camel with wounded gentials is music!? Oh well, to each their own.

It's pretty clear this guy is an a$$hole through and through, but has his PR doing their best to save his rep time after time.

My teenage daughter loves Chris Brown. I think he's a dirtbag for beating up the beautiful and talented Rhianna. Trying to discourage her from idolizing angry violent young men because of their "so-called" talent. Watched his performance. He Sucks-! A shameful marketing ploy to young naive girls. If he's mad at Miranda, maybe he and Blake Shelton can talk it over-?? Funny. Punk vs. Man.
      • Tiffany 3 mths ago
you have you daughter idolizing Rhianna thought. Oh that is so much better as she is the epitome of all that is good right.
      • Sara 3 mths ago
You said he's dirtbag for beating "beautiful, talented Rhianna. Shouldn't matter if she is unattractive and tone deaf... he hit a girl!!! Rhianna is not the best role model for teenage girls.
      • RICH 3 mths ago
Tiffany: You make no sense. Are you literate-? Sara, you are correct. He hit a girl is all that matters. Btw, I never said she was a role model.
    • WH  •  3 mths ago
His tweeting rants show he still has anger issues to be dealt with.

I totally agree with Kimberly!!!!!! Charlie Sheen was and is "Glorified" for his idiotic behavior!!! He was the topic of everybody's conversation for months and months. It amazes me how twisted our society is, that this "white" man can do whatever the heck he wants to do, say whatever he wants to say, and get praised for it! Not only that, but he goes around the country and calls himself a motivational speaker. He even puts a name on his craziness "winning" or something like that. Chris has made a lot of mistakes but has actually admitted to them and apologized for them. Never seen Charlie Sheen do that! Truth is the media puts these people (HUMANS) on a pedastal and then waits for them to do wrong so they can snatch it from underneath them!
A Grammy award is given to artists based on their talent and musical ability. If we are going to give out a "Morally Right" award then most of the people in the room would not get one!!. I mean James Brown was known to be an abusive man and a drunk and he is considered an ICON!! The only difference in their sins and ours is that they have paparazzi and CNN waiting for them to mess up! I mean the things they do at the after parties alone would disqualify most of them for everything except Hell. If people are going to make statements about what people deserve and don't deserve it should be fair and even across the board. I really think that people like to have someone to pick on and point the finger at so they don't have to focus on their own lives!!!!! ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE BLACK! Sorry had to say it!!!!
      • Cj 3 mths ago
You are the one that sounds racist. You think Chris Brown should be given a "pass" for domestic abuse, because he's black and white guys do it. Really? Are you kidding? I don't care if you are white, black or any shade inbetween. It is NEVER ok to commit domestic abuse against another person. EVER. It is not a racial thing, it's a moral thing.
      • expert 3 mths ago
its real funny who throws the race card....

He is an arrogant punk. Any man who hits a woman, (by the way, it's proven they never change) should not be welcomed anywhere, much less where kids watch and learn his classless antics. Our nation is really lacking in role models, and i certainly wouldn't want my kids listening to him or anyone like him.

he should be forgotten..not forgiven for his bad behavior..it wasn't a one timeloss of control...it has been and is ..his way of life...go away..fade from our memory...you are repulsive in every way ..shape and form

I think it's sad as a society that we think just because someone is average at music (he talks and can kinda sing and can attempt dance moves that most of us can't I'll be honest) that just because he's okay at this stuff, that we can blow off that he's an abusive man. That stuff doesn't go away. I'm all for one at giving people second chances but the majority of the time, they don't change, and with his blow out on twitter just shows that he's still a very angry person and that comes first. He tried to say a different tune by deleting what he said, but you can't ignore that anger was his first defense. Has anyone else seen the horrible things teenage girls are saying about him? "He can beat me any day if he's that hot," "I'd let him beat me all the time"....this is SAD!

And as for asking why Rihanna isn't being raked over the coals? She got out and she pressed charges, which is more than a lot of the women who have been KILLED or seriously SCARRED for life can say. You can't just blow something like this off. Sure you got a Grammy, but what good is a grammy these days? Everythings autotuned and horrible. Lady gaga was involved. I don't want the grammy's because I don't consider what is on the radio now music. Computers input talent.

    • ROB  •  3 mths ago
The guy is a jerk we all can agree.... i dont think he is worthy of a grammy cuz i think he sux... but i am not on the voting committee

Most of these entertainers (singers, sports players ect.) are womanizers. Nothing new! Although they're horrible ppl, society will continue to reward them. Lets not act as though C. Brown is the only woman beater listed in the history books. As long as this behavior amongst the wealthy--as well as poor--is rewarded, slimeballs will continue to have the opportunity to prosper... regardless of their "past" transgressions. Ppl need to stop acting sruprised about this. As for the grammies... the award is based on entertainment capabilities. Womanizer or not.. C.B. incredibly gifted when it comes to song and (especially) dance. You dont hear people protesting NFL titles bcuz a specific team just so happens to have a high concentration of woman beaters. These awards are strictly based on talent and it should stay that way. Leave their personal lives out of things.

Thank you Miranda Lambert! ..and Will Wheaton!!
Chris Brown is a NO-CLASS idiot -- anyone that buys his CDs are just as classless.
    • Cj  •  3 mths ago
I am hearing all of these racist comments. Alluding that the only reason people are making a big deal about the domestic abuse is because Chris Brown is a black man. That is ridiculous. It is about the abuse. How can anyone that saw the police photos of Rhianna's face, and the damage he inflicted think this is about race? It's about violence. The inability to control violent outbursts. Domestic abuse. Lack of moral fiber. It's not about race.

Yes, he apologized. That's nice, but it doesn't change what he did or what he is. Then, in a violent fit he damaged a studio dressing room. Then in a violent outburst he sent out a stream of filthy tweets which he later deleted. What will he do in his next violent outburst? Who will get hurt? He hasn't changed. We know the kind of person he is. He should be in jail not winning awards.
    • Cj  •  3 mths ago
Our society now seems to make heroes out of criminals and abusers. Chris Brown, Michael Vick and Kobe Bryant are cases in point.
    • PaolaP  •  3 mths ago
Chris Brown's actions in 2009 should not be forgotten but they also should not define him for the rest of his life. People glorify Elvis who started having sex with Priscilla when she was underage, how would people react to that today? I'm not saying it's the same thing because it isn't but did that define him for the rest of his life? Miranda Lambert also isn't one to talk about morality and what's right and what isn't when she herself wrecked a marriage. She knew Blake Shelton was married when she went after him, she's even admitted that he was "off limits" and yet she went ahead and pursued him. She wouldn't want to be known as a home-wrecking #$%$ for the rest of her life now would she? If Rihanna, the woman on the receiving end up Chris Brown's fists has decided to forgive and move on, then Miranda who had nothing to do with it should really mind her own business.
