Chris Christie Announces Presidential Run: ‘Both Parties Have Failed Our Country’

Chris Christie became the 14th Republican nominee for president Tuesday, announcing his run at the New Jersey high school he attended.

“Both parties have failed our country, both parties have stood in the corner and held their breaths,” the New Jersey Governor said, rallying the crowd for a return to unity and compromise in Washington, D.C.

A large theme of Christie’s speech revolved around “telling it like it is,” suggesting the other candidates are just your average politicians appeasing the groups needed to get elected.

“We must tell each other the truth about the problems we have and the difficulties of the solutions,” Christie said to loud applause, explaining that the government isn’t working anymore.

“I am now ready to fight for the people of the United States of America,” he said, saying Americans are tired of “handwringing and weakness” in the Oval Office.

Christie also took shots at President Obama’s “second mate” Hillary Clinton for America’s weak foreign policy.

“I am not running for president of the United States as a surrogate for being prom king,” Christie said, saying when he speaks, he means what he says and he says what he means.
