Christian Dior to live stream Fashion Week show via new online magazine

The Dior magazine

Christian Dior launched a new online magazine February 29, with one of the first features to be a live stream of its March 2 Paris Fashion Week presentation.

Visitors to http://www.dior.com/magazine/ this Friday at 14:30 will be able to watch the label's Fall/Winter 2012 presentation, while blogger Susie Bubble will be overseeing a simultaneous Twitter feed.

In addition to this, visitors will be able to access news, videos and images from the French fashion house as well as gaining an insight into its history.

While articles will initially be in French and English, simplified Chinese is set to follow soon. WWD adds that content from the site is expected to be provided for the iPad and iPhones in the coming months.

The news of the site comes shortly after the launch of the Dior Backstage website, dedicated to all things beauty including new colors, runway footage and products.

The innovations follow increasing efforts from fashion houses using online content to engage with fans. However, in the past this has mostly been done via blogging (à la DKNY, Kate Spade and Rebecca Minkoff) or social networking sites such as Pinterest and Tumblr.

Brands to have their own online magazine include US department store Saks Fifth Avenue and UK-based men's fashion retailer Topman, which launched an online magazine called Topman Generation last November.
