Christine Baranski: Matthew Perry Hoping To Come Back To The Good Wife

Matthew Perry could be poised to make return to CBS' "The Good Wife," according to Christine Baranski.

"I think Matthew is wanting, actually -- he loves, loves, loves the show - I think he's going to try and be on the show, if the schedule permits," the Emmy nominee (for playing Diane Lockhart on "The Good Wife") told AccessHollywood.com on Sunday night at CBS' party following the network's session at the Television Critics summer tour in Beverly Hills.

Matthew joined the cast briefly last season as Mike Kresteva, a Chicago attorney, who declared his gubernatorial candidacy. The show seemed to suggest that Matthew's character would eventually have a rather heated campaign against Alicia Florrick's (Julianna Margulies) husband Peter, played by Chris Noth.

The former "Friends" star's comedy pilot for NBC, "Go On," was picked up for the 2012-2013 season, obviously limiting the actor's availability.

"I thought he was superb," Christine added of Matthew's memorable character, who had a very different idea what truth meant when it came to his conversations with Alicia. "We wanted more of him. God, was he good.

"He would've been marvelous up against Chris Noth. Oh, my God," she added.

Christine is up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the Emmys this September and she told Access that the nomination was a thrill.

"It was great! I tried to go back to bed, but then it was impossible," she said of hearing the news last week. "I was very under-slept, but very happy."
