Christoph Waltz Urges Men to 'Take Control' of Their Health

Christoph Waltz says teaming up with The The Movember Foundation was "a no brainer."

"Men can often pretend to be tough guys and don't seek medical treatment when they should," Waltz tells PEOPLE. "But prostate and testicular cancer are killers and there is nothing manly about trying to make cancer go away by ignoring it."

The Movember Foundation, which has raised over $650 million dollars in the span of just over 10 years, is a global charity committed to men living happier, healthier, longer lives by raising awareness about prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health and physical inactivity.

The foundation encourages men to grow a mustache in November to show their support. But Waltz says this is a cause that should be discussed all year-round.

"Men should never ignore their health," he says. "Instead, they should learn to take control of it."

Women are also getting involved and Emmy Rossum recently told PEOPLE about why she decided to partner with the foundation.

"Obviously I always knew about the mustache thing that happens in November, but I didn't really know what it was about" Rossum told PEOPLE. "When I learned more about it, I was kind of touched by the role that women play in men's lives in terms of encouraging them to lead a healthy life, to see doctors, to feel comfortable to talk about depression and mental health issues."
