Apparently aiming to disprove the notion that everything on display at auto shows nowadays has to be small and green, Chrysler revealed details of new SUVs from two of its sub-brands this week.
Ram Truck is to launch a new luxury line at the Chicago Auto Show next month, the brand said January 26, aiming to appeal to affluent pickup truck buyers.
The Ram Laramie Limited package is designed to be considerably more refined than the Laramie Longhorn, the wild west-themed option currently produced by Ram.
That means drivers will find a cleaner, chrome-accented exterior more at home in the city than in the countryside, rolling on either 20-inch or 17-inch aluminum wheels.
Inside, the Laramie Limited has been treated to leather seats and trim, a high-gloss black center stack, chrome rings on the dash, heated steering wheel, front ventilated and heated seats and rear heated seats.
Ram's sister brand Jeep also revealed a new model, showcasing a new -- but as yet unnamed -- production-intent Grand Cherokee concept in Houston this week.
Finished in a striking black (although a red version is on show at the Washington DC Auto Show), the concept appears stealthy and aggressive, with only a few chrome touches adding life to an exterior that Chrysler describes as 'edgy'.
A spokesperson said that the model could hit showrooms this spring, with a name chosen via an online contest for fans available at http://www.jeep.com/en/2012/namemyride.
