Chuck Lorre Apologized for 'Two and a Half Men'
Chuck Lorre has long defended himself from criticism, until Sunday evening when he apologized for punishing the world in a very particular way for over ten years.
Lorre used his acceptance speech at the seventh annual Television Academy Honors ceremony, where he received an award for his new show, Mom — in which Allison Janney's alcoholic mom falls off the wagon and works to repair her life — as an attempt to redeem himself for his greatest crime. Namely, inflicting so much Charlie Sheen on the general viewing public. “To do a show about people trying to redeem their lives and to salvage and repair the damage they’ve done, for me, it’s an opportunity to apologize for Two and a Half Men,” Lorre joked to the crowd.
We've had to suffer through eleven seasons of Two and a Half Men, but, thankfully, the show will come to a merciful end after its 12th and final season. On one hand, it's pleasant that Lorre has apologized for the now, earning laughs and praising blog posts. But Lorre was not exactly rushing to extend olive branches at any point over the last decade, when the show was topping the ratings and lining his pockets with millions and millions of dollars. This is like a villain apologizing just before actually succeeding with his evil plot. We don't buy it, Lorre. Not for a second.
