Clearwater police investigate body found offshore of Sand Key Park

CLEARWATER — A boater found a body Saturday more than a mile off of Sand Key Park, according to police spokesperson Rob Shaw.

Sand Key Park is just south of Clearwater Beach.

The man, who officers identified as Lonnie Wilson, 48, was found shortly before 4 p.m., investigators said.

Clearwater police detectives are investigating. The department did not share any information about the circumstances of his death.
