This clever case may have just rendered one of my favorite iPhone accessories obsolete

For third-party accessory makers, Apple’s iPhone lineup is a gold mine. This is especially true for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which are by far the most slippery and accident-prone iPhones to date. There are tons of options out there, and we try to cover some of the best of the bunch from time to time, simply because a protective case is such a necessity for Apple’s latest iPhones. In the recent past, for example, we’ve shown you some beautiful iPhone cases you’ve never heard of as well as 3 awesome iPhone 6 cases that are perfect for people who hate iPhone cases.

Now, we’re back with a creative new option to protect your iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, and it might just render one of my favorite iPhone accessories obsolete.

DON’T MISS: 10 cases that will protect your iPhone 6 without ruining Apple’s gorgeous design

I don’t buy many accessories for my iPhone 6 or my Android smartphones, but there are a few that I can’t live without at this point. Among them is the Kenu Airframe+, which is a shockingly simple replacement for a conventional car mount. Instead of installing some big ugly bracket or using a bizarre contraption that sticks out of a cigarette lighter port, the Airframe+ is a small, unobtrusive clamp that can attach to the air conditioning vent in just about any car.

But now, there’s a new iPhone case that uses a creative solution to accomplish the same thing.

The Zuna Drive is a clever case that includes a flexible AC vent insert on the back. When you get in your car, simply pop out the tab, stick it in the AC vent and you’re done.

Here’s a video that explains how it works:

The biggest barrier for me is the case’s design, but many people will like the look of the Zuna Drive. The bad news, however, is that it’s currently in pre-order phase.

The iPhone 5/5s version of the Zuna Drive case will begin shipping this month and the iPhone 6/6 Plus models ship in April. All three versions are available in four different colors, and they each cost $39.99 (use the coupon code TESTDRIVE for 20% off).
