How Are the Cliff Talks Going? Not Well, It Seems

You would think the Senate and Congressional leaders would be making all kinds of progress towards a fiscal cliff deal considering it quite literally is zero hour and the country is mere days away from actually, really going over the proverbial cliff. But nope! You would be mistaken.

Yeah, the deadline is just a few days away. The President was all "get a deal done, you guys," in his weekly address. So, aides for Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell have been negotiating in Washington all Saturday. Buzzfeed's Rebecca Greenberg reported we probably wouldn't hear anything until Sunday, but that negotiations were "underway."

And yet The Hill's Amie Parnes and Daniel Strauss report there's been "no major progress," largely because they still can't come to a consensus on taxes. McConnell is holding firm on not raising taxes at all, despite John Boehner's concessions in previous negotiations. The President is supervising the negotiations from his office.

For now, all we can do is wait and see. Reporters are still stationed in Washington because the talks haven't officially ended for the day. McConnell is still in his office. Buzzfeed's John Stanton doesn't think he's still negotiating, though:

Why do I get the feeling cliff talks ended an hour and a half ago and McConnell is just chillin in his office watching basketball
