    The new wireless system offers tree crop growers an affordable and reliable way to monitor soil moisture at multiple depths for real-time irrigation management.

    ClimateMinder’s VP of Sales, Tom Devol, says “Many growers prefer profile probes as they can be installed more easily to monitor the deep water bank. This is especially important for crops like almonds for accurate management of water for optimum yield and quality. Pairing these probes to the much lower cost mesh will go a long way in helping to monitor more for less.”

    Thanks to its self-healing and self-configuring wireless mesh network technology, ClimateMinder builds extremely reliable, flexible and cost-effective weather and soil stations. “Mesh networking allows our stations to form a spider web and bridge the information between each other and the base station. This way, we can make them light-weight and cost-effective – with smaller batteries, solar panels, and simpler but more robust electronics” says ClimateMinder VP of Product, Mike Almasri. “Now, with our unique approach, we can make mesh work in orchard environments with crops of substantial canopy like almonds and walnuts.”

    ClimateMinder has already deployed dozens of wireless mesh stations in orchards of almonds, pistachios, olives and citrus. In addition, hundreds of these were installed in vineyards and row crop fields. With the addition of soil profile probes to its offering, the company provides a precise measurement of soil moisture at multiple depths, making it possible for growers to monitor the movement of the water through the soil profile.

    ClimateMinder has been implementing soil moisture monitoring solutions using affordable and reliable capacitance probes very successfully to date. The addition of the soil profile probe support to its product portfolio further strengthens the position of the most advanced solution in the market.
