Coastguard helicopter rescues kite surfer off Bridlington
A kite surfer who went missing in the sea off Bridlington was rescued by a Coastguard helicopter.
The man was reported lost from Fraisthorpe Beach at around 14:45 BST on 29 April, the service said in a social media post.
After a rescue team arrived on the beach, the man was spotted around half a mile (0.8km) offshore and the Flamborough lifeboat was called out.
A Coastguard helicopter training in the area winched the man to safety.
In their Facebook post, HM Coastguard said: "A short while later the helicopter landed on the beach to transfer equipment to assist in treating the casualty who is described as stable.
"The casualty was handed over to the Yorkshire Ambulance Service for onward care.
"We would like to wish the casualty a speedy recovery."
The service added the incident was "a timely reminder that if you are taking part in recreational water sports you must ensure that you are well prepared".
It urged people taking part in water sports to carry buoyancy aids in case they ended up in the sea and also have a radio or mobile phone to contact rescue services.
