Cold temps greet Berkshire Hathaway shareholders

More than 30,000 people are expected at Saturday's Berkshire Hathaway meeting in unusual cold

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Cold temperatures will greet the more than 30,000 Berkshire Hathaway shareholders expected to stream into Omaha for this weekend's annual meeting.

The shareholder weekend gets rolling in earnest Friday night with a formal reception at Borsheims jewelry, which is one of several Berkshire subsidiaries in Omaha.

Normally about half the crowd of shareholders at the reception hangs out in a tent in the parking lot where a band plays. But this year, Friday's high temperatures are likely to be in the low 40s and rain may be falling.

So Borsheims had to arrange for space heaters to be set up within the outdoor tent to keep shareholders warm.

The actual shareholder meeting will be held Saturday, but at least that will be indoors.
