Colts' Angerer, Bradshaw off PUP
Inside linebacker Pat Angerer and running back Ahmad Bradshaw were activated from the physically unable to perform list by the Indianapolis Colts.
Angerer was cleared to return to practice, ending his stint on the active/physically unable to perform list that spanned most of training camp. Bradshaw will not play in Sunday night's game against the New York Giants, his former team, and his schedule is to be determined, coach Chuck Pagano said. The Colts were forced to activate Bradshaw by the NFL because he participated in a team walkthrough.
Angerer, 26, was out with foot and knee injuries. He made only three starts in 11 games last season after starting 27 games in his first two seasons. Kavell Conner, another fourth-year veteran, has assumed Angerer's role in the 3-4 defense. Conner has 36 career starts, including 12 last season.
Cornerback Johnny Adams and linebacker Monte Simmons signed Tuesday.
The Colts waived-injured linebackers Justin Hickman and Quinton Spears. If Hickman and Spears clear waivers, they will revert to the Colts' injured reserve list.
Adams, an undrafted free agent from Michigan State, signed with the Houston Texans in May but was waived. He started 39-of-54 career games at Michigan State, and was first-team All-Big Ten in 2012, starting 12 games and tallying 35 tackles, 10 passes defensed and three interceptions.
Simmons was a member of the Colts' practice squad last season. He spent the 2011 season on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad after being signed as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State in 2011. He was signed by the Eagles in 2012.
Hickman was originally signed by the Colts as a free agent on Feb. 9, 2012. Last season, he appeared in 12 games and totaled 14 tackles (six solo) and three special teams stops.
Spears spent two seasons with the Cleveland Browns and signed a futures contract with the Colts on Dec. 31, 2012. In 2011, Spears played in 13 games and ranked fourth on the team with eight special teams tackles.
