The job market is still rolling.

The latest weekly report on initial jobless claims saw claims total 282,000, beating expectations.

Expectations were for claims to come in at 290,000, slightly lower from last week's 291,000 number.

In a note to clients following the report, Ian Shepherdson at Pantheon Macro said, "In one line: No sign of softening here."

Shepherdson added that, "If claims are sustained at this level, or anything like it, and hiring indicators remain at current levels, then payroll growth will remain very rapid and the steady decline in the unemployment rate will continue."
