The Comedy Awards film nominees led by 'Bridesmaids' and 'Crazy Stupid Love'

'Crazy Stupid Love' got five Comedy Awards nominations.

Nominations for the second annual Comedy Awards were announced March 6 to honor the best in comedy in film, television, stand-up comics and animation.

With five total nominations each, the leading films are Bridesmaids, starring Oscar nominees Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, and Crazy Stupid Love with Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

Other films with four nominations include Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris and Horrible Bosses. The Oscar winner The Artist also was nominated.

Leading the television categories with five nominations each were Emmy and Golden Globe winners Modern Family, which won last year's "Comedy Series" award, and 30 Rock, the show about a comedy show, starring Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin.

Stand-up comic Louis C.K., who stars in his own television show Louie, which he writes and directs, also led the nominations.

Other awards include Comedy Sketch Shows, Late Night Comedy, Stand Up Comic Tour and Actors and Actresses in films and television.

Comedy fans can vote on the website for Breakout Performer of the Year, with nominees including Zooey Deschanel (New Girl), Josh Gad (Love and Other Drugs), Donald Glover (Community), Melissa McCarthy and Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses, Saturday Night Live).

Nominees were selected by the Comedy Awards Board of Directors, a prestigious group including Carol Burnett, Stephen Colbert, Joan Rivers, Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, and Lily Tomlin. Winners will be chosen by a voting body of professionals in the comedy world.

In response to his nomination, Larry David, up for Performance by an Actor - TV for Curb Your Enthusiasm, asked "Does this mean I have to go?"

Recipients for the Johnny Carson Award, Comedy Icon Award and Digital/Best Viral Original will be announced in the coming weeks.

The event will be held in New York City on April 28 at the Hammerstein Ballroom and televised on the host network Comedy Central May 6.
