Rep. Michele Bachmann, the U.S. representative of Minnesota's 6th congressional district and erstwhile presidential candidate, said this morning she will not seek re-election. Yahoo reached out to her constituents for their reactions. Here's one.
COMMENTARY | As a 52-year-old cranky constituent from Ramsey, I am simultaneously giddy and grave about Rep. Bachmann not running for re-election.
I have never been a fan of Bachmann and her brand of politics, and even in a heavily GOP district, I never voted for her; she never represented my interests as a constituent. One of my favorite examples of her time in office: I wrote her a letter about farm subsidies and how many she was receiving. Her response to me? It was only about Obamacare.
My select Bachmann burbles:
* Putting the lip grip on President Bush -- I still may need counseling from seeing that.
* Bachmann held a hearing on a gay marriage ban at the Minnesota Capitol, and was surprised by stepsister, Helen LaFave, who chose the occasion to come out publicly for the first time.
* Early in her state senate career Bachmann was caught spying on a pro-gay-rights rally by hiding behind bushes and then running away from cameras. This bush incident happened after her Star Tribune newspaper profile vacuuming in high heels.
* She's "hot for Jesus" and, thankfully, according to Bachmann, Jesus has already saved the environment.
I'm going to miss her.
