Following vehicle fire, Route 1 south reopens near Townsend
Editor's note: Earlier versions of this story incorrectly associated the closure of Route 1 north at Dickinson Avenue with the vehicle fire.
Route 1 south has reopened following a commercial vehicle fire near Townsend on Saturday.
Traffic is again moving on Route 1 south at Route 299, according to a tweet by the Delaware Department of Transportation.
Southbound Route 1 traffic had been shut down first at Pine Tree Road, near Townsend, at around 10:20 a.m., then at Route 299 at about 11:57 a.m., according to the Delaware Department of Transportation.

Route 1 is a major north-south route in Delaware.
There have been no reports of injuries at this time.
