Ohio legislative panel reschedules compromise talks on state budget differences for next week
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A legislative panel has pushed back its first meeting over differences between the House and Senate versions of Ohio's budget.
The six-member, bipartisan conference committee had planned to meet Thursday afternoon to hear updated state revenue and Medicaid caseload projections.
The office of House Finance Chairman Ron Amstutz's now says the meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday.
Lawmakers face a June 30 deadline to pass the $61.7 billion, two-year state budget. A new fiscal year begins July 1.
The two chambers have separate tax plans and school funding formulas that must be reconciled.
Lawmakers have dropped the governor's proposal to expand the Medicaid program from the budget. A separate, bipartisan bill to reform the Medicaid system was expected to be introduced in the General Assembly on Thursday.
