Cooler weather in North Dakota boosts some crops

Report says cooler weather across North Dakota helpful to small grains, canola and flaxseed

FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- Cooler weather across North Dakota has been a boost for small grains, canola and flaxseed.

The Agriculture Department says in its weekly report that most major crops in North Dakota are rated in good condition. Canola conditions were at 85 percent good to excellent, and flaxseed was 77 percent good to excellent.

Both durum wheat and spring wheat were rated 82 percent good to excellent. Oats came in at 87 percent good to excellent.

The report rated pasture and range conditions at 2 percent poor, 11 percent fair, 61 percent good, and 26 percent excellent.
