Court dismisses Apple’s lawsuit against Amazon over the term ‘app store’ [updated]
After hitting some early hurdles, Apple’s (AAPL) lawsuit filed against Amazon (AMZN) in 2012 over the use of the term “app store” has been dismissed. Apple had filed a complaint last year claiming that Amazon’s “Amazon Appstore” infringed on Apple’s trademark, but Amazon argued that the claim was baseless because “app store” is a generic term. In a terminal alert picked up by Business Insider, Bloomberg reports that a judge has now sided with Amazon on the matter and the case has been dismissed.

UPDATE: Reuters notes that the case has only been partially dismissed. The judge ruled that Apple cannot bring a false advertising claim against Amazon but Apple’s other claims, including the claim alleging trademark infringement, have not been dismissed.
