Courts Deny Dinesh D'Souza Chance at Prison Martyrdom
Last we caught up with conservative media ecosystem and Obama critic Dinesh D'Souza, he had pleaded guilty to a count of making illegal campaign contributions, wriggling out from a more serious charge of making false statements to the Federal Election Commission.
D'Souza was expected to serve at least four months of jail time even as prosecutors reportedly sought to send him away for 10-16 months. Looks like he's not going to jail at all.

He will also be forced to pay a $30,000 fine, dedicate one day a week to community service during his confinement, and will remain on probation for five years.
In case you've forgotten here's what he did (via Reuters):
D'Souza, 53, admitted in May to illegally reimbursing two 'straw donors' who donated $10,000 each to the unsuccessful 2012 U.S. Senate campaign in New York of Wendy Long, a Republican he had known since attending Dartmouth College in the early 1980s.
Most notably, he is avoiding jail time, which some are split about because it either would constitute excessive punishment or rob him of an opportunity to put his persecution narrative into a real context:
