Cow Who Ran Through Streets of NYC After Escaping Slaughterhouse Gets a New Home

A cow who gained Internet fame when he escaped a slaughterhouse and ran through the streets of Queens, New York, is settling into a new home.

As passersby watched in surprise on Thursday afternoon, "Freddie" led police on a chase down Jamaica Avenue before he was captured.

The cow was eventually cornered in a garage and returned to the slaughterhouse. But Mike Stura, of Skylands Animal Sanctuary And Rescue, fought for Freddie's release, DNAinfo reported.

So on Friday morning, the courageous cow took to the road again, this time to travel to his new home in Wantage, New Jersey.

Freddie will now live out his days among other saved animals at the sanctuary.

"I’ll give him a home and he’ll live a happy life," Stura said.
