Craig nominated as New Hampshire Labor Commissioner

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- Gov. Maggie Hassan is nominating former House Minority Leader James Craig to serve as Labor Department Commissioner.

Hassan, who plans to submit Craig's name at the Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, said Craig has a deep understanding of the legal and policy issues that affect both New Hampshire's workforce and business community.

Craig, of Manchester, is a partner at the law firm of Craig, Deachman & Amann. He has practiced law in New Hampshire for 30 years with a variety of experience in issues critical to the state's workforce and business community.

Craig, a Democrat, served in the New Hampshire House of Representatives for five terms, including as Minority Leader from 2004-2006.

Craig's nomination is subject to confirmation by the Executive Council.
