    Critically Acclaimed One Man Play 'Nazi Hunter - Simon Wiesenthal' Nominated for Several Ovation Awards; Upcoming Show Dates Announced

    A recent visit by Adolf Eichmann's great granddaughter to see the play "Nazi-Hunter - Simon Wiesenthal" underscores playwright and actor Tom Dugan's belief that telling the story of the holocaust is still a necessity.

    After a recent Los Angeles performance of his critically acclaimed one - man play “Nazi Hunter - Simon Wiesenthal” playwright/actor Tom Dugan was leading an audience discussion regarding the life and legacy of the man commonly known as “The Conscience of the Holocaust” (Simon Wiesenthal, 1908 – 2005), when among the audience, that included survivors and children of survivors, stood up an emotional young girl in her early 20s. In a trembling voice she said…“I had no idea the concentration camps were that bad. I was always taught that the Holocaust was all a big exaggeration.” That girl was Adolf Eichmann’s great granddaughter.”

    During a rehearsal break for his upcoming Southern California tour Dugan (http://www.tomduganplays.com), who has written several other historic one man shows (Robert E. Lee –Shades of Gray and Frederick Douglass -In the Shadow of Slavery starring Broadway’s Mel Johnson, Jr.), was asked why he chose Wiesenthal for his latest piece, “I grew up fascinated with my dad’s stories of liberating the German concentration camps in WW II. I feel an obligation as a playwright to pass on the important lessons learned by my father’s generation. It must not be taken for granted that Holocaust Studies are being effectively taught in our schools. We’ve all heard the phrase “never forget” well in the case of Eichmann’s Great-Grand daughter she never even knew!”

    Tom Dugan’s critically acclaimed one - man play “Nazi Hunter - Simon Wiesenthal” hailed by audiences and critics alike as “masterful” (Backstage), “authoritative and engaging” (LA Times), and “most eloquent” (LA Weekly) was nominated in multiple categories by the Los Angeles Stage Alliance for it’s most prestigious prize –The Ovation Award. During the black tie event (November 14, 2011) at the Orpheum Theatre “Nazi Hunter - Simon Wiesenthal” will compete for BEST PLAY— (Intimate Theatre), BEST LEAD ACTOR IN A PLAY (Tom Dugan), and BEST DIRECTOR OF A PLAY (Jenny Sullivan).
